After initial greetings and organisation of personal belongings, children are escorted to the dining room for high tea. The menu is nutritious and appealing to children and our skilled Catering Manager consults with the children to put together a termly Tea Menu that they will enjoy, which is healthy and nutritious. One of the favourite options is ‘Healthy Buffet’ which presents children with a wide choice from proteins, carbohydrates, fruit and vegetable trays. Children are free to select any items of of their choice, but they are encouraged by the Staff to take at least two items from each section. All meals are supervised by the Catering Manager and she guides the children in their choices and gets to know their individual likes and dislikes. The shepherds hut is a great favourite with After School children.

Children are always encouraged to try food that might be new to them to develop their palate. Parents are welcome to discuss individual meal requirements with the Catering Team who are very happy to cater for special dietary requirements or particular needs.

After a social and enjoyable meal time, where children are seated in friendship groups, a wide choice of activities is available to children. Personal choice is an important feature of the After School Care provision and children often have their own very strong ideas about how they would like to spend their evening with their friends. Staff are skilled at supporting children in making a choice and ensuring that all children become engaged in worthwhile and enjoyable activities. There is always a wide choice of activities both indoors and also outdoors. Indoor options include craft activities, games, drama, cookery, pet care, computer activities, and quiet room activities (such as reading, homework, or sewing etc). Fun with Sensory play.

Outdoor options are endless and can flow from playground and gardens onto the 200 acres of farmlands and woodlands beyond. The Centre prides itself on an excellent range of outdoor facilities. Children can chose from a wide range of options each night and these may include ball games, woodland activities, camp fire and outdoor cookery sessions, gardening, sand pit play, water play zone, construction zone, the builder’s yard, gardening and many more. Even when the weather is wet children can still go outside under the canopies or in the Woodland shelters and Yurts. Even on a dark night, a favourite activity is torch play out in the grounds. Children are never bored at Worcester Early Years Centre. The Staff are skilled at tempting children into all types of enjoyable and often very educational activities.

A quiet area is always available for reading and homework tasks. A library of suitable books is also available for After School children.
